Corley Dennison

Author and Educator

Corley Dennison serves as Vice Chancellor Emeritus with the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission (HEPC).  He previously served as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the HEPC and the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College Education (2014 to 2021). From 1985 to 2014, Dennison taught at Marshall University where he was a faculty member, an assistant dean, Dean of the W. Page Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communication (2004-2012) and Associate Provost (2012-2014).  He was appointed to the West Virginia Educational Broadcasting Authority in 2011 and served as vice chair from 2016 to 2021.

Prior to teaching, Dennison worked in both commercial and public broadcasting with stints at WMRA-FM in Harrisonburg, Va., KXCV-FM in Maryville, Mo., and three commercial radio stations in central Virginia.  A graduate of James Madison University in 1976 with a mass communications degree, Dennison earned his master’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University in 1984 and his doctorate from West Virginia University in 1992. 

He enjoys reading, writing, hiking, swimming, backpacking and practicing Tae Kwon Do.  When the Center Held True is Dennison’s first novel.
